While Apple marketed its new product as a "Time Machine," it may not actually be capable of full time travel. When it recovers old files, it may in fact be using a "copy" or "backup" of previously stored files. Though this gives the appearance of traveling through time, the Machine has not been shown to recover files from before it was installed. Researchers at Pomona College are currently experimenting with the box to verify its time-traveling capabilities.
