Some links I need to discharge from my "to read" queue:
- "Global Sludge Ends in Tragedy for Ivory Coast" (an environmental disaster perpetrated by a coalition of international corporations)
- "A Farmer Fears His Way of Life Has Dwindled Down to a Final Generation)"
- Polyface Farms (that of Joel Salatin, profiled in The Omnivore's Dilemma) has a website with links to what looks like interesting reading.
- "Reveling in a Wrathful Exodus, Plagues and All" (about a film of the Exodus with local amateur actors in Margate, England)
- Something about Howard Dean
- A NY Times editorial: The US is borrowing more money from abroad than it is investing (is that just the government budget, or the American economy as a whole?)
- "Old but Not Frail" (on how state-of-mind affects "aging well").
- "The fraud of primitive authenticity" (article on the myth of the noble savage—takes a weird turn into Christian evangelism at the end) [via the Geegaw Diablog]
- "2006 Bumberbout Recap." This post has been getting raves from all my friends, but after reading it several times I have no idea what it really means. How is this game actually played? Can anyone give me a reference? I do love saying the word, "Bumberbout."
- Sylvie Guillem sounds like a nifty dancer.
