Augusto Boal, inventor of the Theatre of the Oppressed (*), has apparently fallen ill while on tour and someone is collecting donations on his behalf, to fund his hospital stay.

From a statement of Boal's on the website for Theatre of the Oppressed: "We believe in Peace, not in Passivity!"

From a recent New Yorker article about torture of Iraqi prisoners: one soldier "told his superiors what had happened, and assumed that 'the issue was taken care of.' He said, 'I just didn't want to be part of anything that looked criminal.'"
