Recently ClearChannel DJs in three cities advocated, to much listener amusement, that motorists target bicyclists in various violent and disrespectful ways.
While it's no surprise that a ClearChannel DJ would have such a poor attitude towards bicyclists—a group which, collectively, has braved many obstacles (including foul weather and antagonistic motorists) to improve its own health, the air quality of its neighborhoods, the level of traffic congestion on the roads, and the general rate of fossil fuel consumption, it is quite surprising that the meme was picked up by DJs in three different cities. This is an elegant demonstration of the claim that ClearChannel embodies a worst-possible scenario in media ownership and that the number of radio stations owned by ClearChannel (1200 as of this writing) is not just a metric of business success but also one of monotony and orthodoxy in the forum of radio.
